Christian Approach to Pride Month

Romans 12:2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Pride Month is a time Christians should navigate with caution, it is essential for us to approach this month with a spirit of humility but an unwavering commitment to God's truth. While recognizing the importance of treating all people with love, it is crucial to explore the theological and biblical reasons why Christians should approach this month differently.

Theological Integrity

For Christians, participation in Pride Month should be a red flag due to the biblical teachings and warnings, for instance, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah which many scholars attribute to this lifestyle and how the crowds of the city assailed Lot and wanted to abuse the angels. Participating in events or activities associated with Pride Month could be perceived as an endorsement of sin and contradict the commands to be holy (Leviticus 20:7) and not assemble with those who do so (Psalm 22:16).

Kingdom Duties

Instead of revelling with unrepentant sinners who identify with and celebrate their sins, this time should be better spent in humility - speaking the truth, giving the gospel to the lost, and praying and intercession. Love means we should not be condemning the Pride community, neither does that mean we should celebrate whatever they want to do. Instead, the correct approach is to speak biblical truth to them and point them to Jesus.

Prayer and Fasting

Pray without ceasing for unity within the body of Christ, especially in navigating conversations surrounding Pride issues. Ask God to guide His church to embody both love and biblical truth, seeking His wisdom in addressing complex matters. Pray for those within the Pride community, that they may encounter the unconditional love and transformative power of Christ in their lives.

Extending Christ's Love

While choosing not to participate in Pride Month, Christians can still engage in loving and respectful discourse with individuals from the Pride community. By fostering understanding, engaging in compassionate conversations, honestly evangelising what the bible says about their lifestyle, and demonstrating Christ's love, we can build bridges and offer an alternative perspective rooted in biblical truth.
