John 19:19
And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And
the writing was Jesus Of Nazareth The King Of The Jews.
As we navigate through our earthly lives, it is essential to
understand the spiritual realm that Christ governs and the divine kingdom that
awaits us. Jesus' government is not one of bureaucracy or human politics as we
know it. It is a theocracy, a divine government led by our Lord and Saviour,
Jesus Christ Himself.
The Bible tells us in Isaiah 9:6-7, "For to us a
child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his
shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting
Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there
will be no end." Imagine that, dear brethren, a government bathed in
everlasting peace, a concept our earthly minds may find difficult to
comprehend.
His divine government is founded on principles of love,
justice, righteousness and mercy. It is a government where the King, our
Saviour, washed the feet of His disciples, demonstrating servant leadership. It
is a government where the last will be first, and the first will be last, a
stark contrast to our world's systems, where power and wealth often determine
the hierarchy.
In His government, Jesus, the Lamb of God, serves as our
High Priest, bridging the gap between us, sinful creatures, and God, our holy
and righteous Creator. Under this heavenly governance, we have direct access to
the Father through Jesus Christ. What a glorious and poignant reminder that we
are indeed, citizens of a higher kingdom!
Now, let us turn our hearts towards Jesus' Kingdom. In the
book of John, chapter 18, verse 36, Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of
this world." Geographical boundaries or physical structures do not
mark the Kingdom of God. Instead, it is a spiritual realm that exists within
the hearts of those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and
Saviour. This Kingdom is both present in the here and now and yet to be fully
realised in the future when Jesus returns to establish His eternal reign.
Brothers and sisters, the Kingdom of God is where love
dwells, where peace reigns, and joy overflows. It is a place where tears are
wiped away, where there is no more suffering, no more pain, no more death. It
is a place where we will dwell in the presence of God for eternity, basking in
His glory and His love.
God's government and His Kingdom should fill our hearts with
hope, tranquillity, and an inexpressible joy. As we go about our earthly
journey, let us live as citizens of Christ’s Kingdom, spreading His love,
exemplifying His teachings. Let us look forward to the day when we will
experience the fullness of His government and Kingdom.
To conclude, I invite you to immerse yourselves in the
divine reality of Jesus' government and Kingdom. In challenging times, let this
divine truth bring comfort and hope. Know that we are ultimately governed by a
loving, merciful Saviour and that we are citizens of a Kingdom where peace,
love, and righteousness reign eternally.
